All eukaryotic cells contain an elaborate network of membrane trafficking pathways to direct the flow of protein and lipids to different intracellular compartments. Defects in these pathways can result in disease, including cancer, neurodegeneration, immune dysfunction, and other developmental disorders. Our goal is to determine how specific membrane transport pathways are appropriately regulated, improving our basic understanding of cellular organization, while simultaneously facilitating the development of new therapeutic approaches to combat disease.
